Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has long sought a comprehensive, consistent and easy to use digital/audio wayfinding tool for our blind and partially sighted visitors.
The need for this has been raised many times by the Park's Built Environment Access Panel (BEAP). Wayfinding across a very large Park with what can at times be busy routes, has reinforced the need for an appropriate digital/audio wayfinding tool that is accurate and can be used reliably by visitors who need additional support.
We are now in communication (as friend and potential collaborator) with both the 'Wayfindr' and 'Cities Unlocked' projects. Our ambition is to offer Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and it's surrounding infrastructure (i.e. public transport stations and Westfield Shopping Centre) as a test ground for developing these new and innovative technologies and applications.
